Research

Each article starts with a reader question. We consult the sources listed in our sources policy, preferring museum collections, academic publications and established reference works.

Fact-checking

• Dates, terminology and technical claims are checked against at least one cited reliable source.
• Where historians disagree or evidence is thin, we say so plainly.
• Legend and fiction are labelled as such.
• We do not invent statistics, quotes, interviews or reviews.

Use of AI

AI tools may help with research and drafting. AI output is never published as verified fact without human checking against sources.

Corrections

Report errors via our contact page. Substantive corrections are noted at the end of the affected article with the date of the change.

Updates and dates

Each article shows its publication date. An “Updated” date appears only when content has meaningfully changed — never just to look fresh.
